Meandering along the border of north central Arkansas and the south central border of Missouri is Bull Shoals Lake, which is about 45,000 acres of clear water at normal pool level, 654 feet above sea level. This acreage can expand to 71,000 at the top of flood control pool which is 695 feet. There are 6,036 square miles of drainage area above the dam. It is a Corps of Engineer Project used for flood control and power generation and completed in 1953. It has about 1000 miles of shoreline at normal pool level and affords some of the best water sport recreation in the country. Even in the busiest tourist season, there is plenty of room for all activities, and it is particularly uncrowded in the area of the resort being advertised. The spring and fall draw the fishermen to its waters while the summer is great for waterskiing, boating, and scuba diving in its clear waters. Summer night fishing is a great time activity due to warm mild nights and low mosquito population.

The Bull Shoals Dam is the fifth highest concrete dam in the United States and is over 200 feet deep at the dam. Tours are given at specified times, and the new visitors' information center overlooking the lake and White River is a great attraction with video presentations and displays of the building of the dam and fish and animal life information as well as gift shop.

Out of the dam spills the White River, which is world famous for its trout fishing. Many records have come from this river. There are many outfitters along its banks and guide services can be easily rented.
