The outdoor recreational opportunities in the area are some of the most attractive reasons for relocating in this area of the country. There are two large lakes, world class trout fishing rivers, the National Buffalo Waterway, state parks for hiking, biking, camping, and other outdoor sports. The area has three golf courses, one of which is a five star facility.

Although Mountain Home, Arkansas is a rather quiet community with a "laid back" relaxing way of life, it is only a couple of hour drive from a more bustling atmosphere that can be found in the Branson, Missouri, with its many music theaters and outlet malls and parks. A two hour drive will also take you to Springfield, Missouri, or about a three hour drive will take you to Little Rock, Arkansas, where there are many national touring events scheduled for cultural and sports activities.
